Individual Counselling
$150/50 minutes
Individual counselling begins with building a strong therapeutic relationship developed between the therapist and the client. I work from a person-centred humanistic approach, whilst integrating a number of evidence-based psychotherapies tailored to each individual client and their needs. These include, but are not limited to, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), emotion-focused family therapy (EFFT), and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), which I talk more about below. I offer individual sessions to individuals aged 18+ both online and in-person.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Re-Processing (EMDR)
$225/90 minutes
Eye movement desensitisation and re-processing (EMDR) is a trauma therapy originally developed by American therapist Francine Shapiro. EMDR can help individuals who have experienced a wide variety of traumas, or those who have been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) reduce the emotional distress they still feel in relation to the event. This may show up in different forms, such as flashbacks, nightmares, physical discomfort, intense fear and anxiety, even specific phobias and relationship issues. EMDR utilises bilateral stimulation in the form of eye movements or tapping to re-process the traumatic memory until it is less distress for the client.
DBT-Informed Therapy
$150/50 minutes
Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) was created and developed as a comprehensive program by American psychologist, Marsha Linehan to help people struggling with distress tolerance, emotion dysregulation and relationship issues develop skills to regulate their nervous systems. DBT involves learning and practicing skills, individual therapy, as well as homework to utilise what you have learned in real time. Ordinarily, DBT is ran in a group format with additional individual therapy and phone coaching. Whilst I am not able to offer the skills in a group format, we can work on the skills individually and use a DBT-informed approach if it is a good fit for you.
